The FIDO Alliance, as an open industry association, continues to work on authentication to help reduce the world’s over-reliance on passwords.
According to the FIDO operating mode, the login request is initiated from the device owned by the user (Smart phone, physical token with FIDO support, etc.). The device transmits the login request to the AuthTake server. The server creates a Challenge message in response to this request and sends it to the device, the device signs this Challenge message with the secret key on it and transmits it to the server again. The server verifies the authenticity of the signed message with its own public key and realizes the input confirmation.
In all these verification processes, FIDO requests biometric verification from the user according to the support of the mobile device.
Thanks to FIDO2, authentication is provided by using information that only you can know, your possession and inheritance that only belongs to you. In this way, it is possible to prevent cyber attacks such as phishing theft to a large extent.
